SOFTBALL CAMPS 2017

Experienced and Professional Softball Instructors (including former collegiate coaches) and expanded camp staff will engage youth campers of various age and development levels to increase technical and tactical aspects of this sport. Each day will feature age and skill-level appropriate fun drills in a competitive environment. There will be emphasis on group and individual skill development in general and for specific skill positions in particular. Separate Hitting, Catching, and Pitching Instructors will be on staff representing Travel/Club teams, High School teams, and from local College teams. Game-like situations will be used to help increase softball awareness and how team and individual strategies are employed.

Track 1:
Summer Softball Skills*, July 24-28th, 9AM-3PM Monday-Friday

Track 2:
Tryout Tune-Up**, July 24-28th, 9AM-3PM Monday – Friday

* 8U, 10U, 12U campers with basic and next level skills.
** Geared towards experienced softball youth (10U, 12U) and teenage (14U, 16U) campers to prepare them for Travel/Club softball tryouts (usually August). An emphasis on speed, power, and awareness is stressed as the keys to employing the advanced technical and tactical aspects of this sport.

Camp 1, $260/player for five day camp.
Camp 2, $280/player for five day camp.

Requirements for Registration

  • All athletes must have completed at least eighth grade at the time of the camp; no junior college athletes will be accepted.
  • Graduation years 2017-2021 are eligible.

Camp Schedule:

Outfielders/Catchers: 8:30 a.m. – 11:25 a.m.
Pitchers: 11:30 a.m. – 2:25 p.m.
Infielders: 2:25 p.m. – 5:20 p.m
Please check-in at least one hour prior to your session’s start time.

**The difference between Academic and Classic camps are the additional academic requirements that a prospective player must meet in order to be accepted into the Academic Camps. These requirements are outlined below:

Test taken BEFORE the PSAT/SAT format change in 2015:

  • SAT – 1750 minimum score (on all three parts combined)
  • PSAT – 175 minimum score
  • ACT – 26 minimum score (using your composite score)

Test taken AFTER the PSAT/SAT format change in 2015:

  • SAT – 1750 minimum score (If all three parts of the test are taken)
  • SAT – 1168 minimum score (If only reading and math are taken)
  • PSAT – 1110 minimum score
  • ACT – 26 minimum score (using your composite score)
  • In addition, ALL applicants must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher.
  • All athletes must have completed at least eight grade at time of the camp; no junior college athletes will be accepted and Graduation years 2017-2021.

**Please note: The college coaches who attend this camp set the academic standards for these camps. These standards reflect the requirements necessary for acceptance into many of the schools represented.

Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors, who have not taken any of the standardized tests mentioned above or who have not achieved the minimum score, may still be considered for acceptance into the camp.
